The word “Annaprashan” comes from Sanskrit, meaning “Grain Initiation”. It is one of the most important samskaras (rites of passage) in a baby’s life, symbolizing physical and spiritual growth. The puja invokes blessings from family ancestors and deities for the child’s health, digestion, and overall well-being. Annaprashan is typically performed for: Babies between 6th and 8th month (boys usually in 6th month, girls in 5th or 7th) Based on Janma Nakshatra, Tithi, and family tradition In homes or temples, with the presence of elders and family.
